What is beter for a fruit tart, mascarpone cheese or cream cheese?

I am planning on making a frut tart for Easter however i need to get ingrediants. THe ingrediants are for the filling only so don't worry about the crust and fruits. I know 1 recipe that says to use cream cheese, 2/3 c. granulated sugar, and 2 eggs and another that says use 2 8oz. packages of mascarpone cheese (softened) and 1/2 cup powdered sugar. I once made a fruit tart with mascarpone but don't remember using the powdered sugar. Would it matter if i used mascarpone but used granulated sugar instead of confectioners sugar?? PLEASE ANSWER A.S.A.P.
