Most children look forward to summer vacation and have certain expectation. Have you lost that expectation?
Maybe I just never grew up, but I still look forward to summer vacations. More contact with the grandkids, and great family gatherings. I am feeling a bit melancholy now that school is starting. One grandson is off to a college in another state, and though we are all very happy for him, we will miss him. My granddaughter is only eight, and many expectations of showing off her beginning skills as a rider at local events ended when her horse sustained an injury. Many told me that we could compete at her level without endangering the horse, but I made the call to err on the side of caution. Just a little sad that the summer is ending. Are you? Please explain your feelings, and if they relate to your childhood, share your "connection."
